Austin Professional Organizer and Senior Move Manager Endows NAPO Scholarship Fund

At the 2012 National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO) Conference held in Baltimore, Maryland, professional organizers from all over the world were excited to learn of the creation of the Barry Izsak/Glorya Schklair Conference Scholarship Fund at the annual Awards banquet. The fund was endowed through the generosity of Barry Izsak, NAPO President 2003-2007. Izsak, who is a professional organizing expert and senior move manager in Austin, Texas chose to memorialize his long-time friend and industry colleague, Glorya Schklair, in the naming of the fund. Schklair was a professional organizer who carried the torch for industry certification for many years, and worked tirelessly to move NAPO and the organizing industry forward in many ways.

 

Izsak told conference attendees that he believes attending his first NAPO conference in 1996 was a pivotal moment in his career and in his life. It was at this conference that he realized a skill set he had always taken for granted would become his ticket to re-energize and create the most fulfilling chapter of his life.

 

"I can honestly say that had I not attended that conference, I don't know where I would be today and might never have found 'my calling'--and certainly not as soon as I did. There is no doubt in my mind that finding NAPO--helped me find myself," Izsak remarked. "NAPO afforded me an incredible opportunity by paving the way and creating the environment which enabled me to achieve my potential in this great industry--and as a human being."

 

In addition to his many years and countless hours of volunteer service as a relentless ambassador for NAPO and the professional organizing industry, Izsak hopes that the creation of the Barry Izsak/Glorya Schklair Conference Scholarship Fund will enable NAPO members who for whatever reason might not be able to afford it, the opportunity to attend a NAPO conference and experience the same life-changing event that he did.

 

Beginning with the NAPO 2013 conference in New Orleans, the Izsak/Schklair Conference Scholarship Fund will award a minimum of 2 full conference registrations in October of each year in the hope that as the fund grows, additional scholarships can be awarded annually. The Scholarship Fund is a way for NAPO members to congratulate, recognize and honor milestones in the careers of their colleagues such as attaining Certified Professional Organizer (CPO) status or milestones in the careers of their clients or anyone they know. It is also a fitting way to memorialize colleagues, clients, family and friends who are no longer with us. Because NAPO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational association, contributions of any size are fully tax-deductible.

 

Izsak concluded his remarks by encouraging NAPO members to "embrace this new way to help fellow members experience the spirit of NAPO that we have all enjoyed this past week in Baltimore."
